American Canyon has Napa River to its west and the Sulfur Springs Mountains foothills to its east. To the south are the Vallejo and Solano County and to the north are vineyards and the Napa County Airport. American Canyon Creek, a tributary of the Napa River, runs through the city. This place is highly populous and one f the significant spots in the Napa County.

It is located at the northern end of the Napa Valley and is the hub of numerous wineries all situated in close proximity. Calistoga is famous for its hot springs spas.
