About Napa

Any trip to central California will have to include Napa California as a target for that destination location. Hands down Napa California embodies all that is great about Napa County! Any visitor wanting to see the splendor and magnificence of what a real wine-growing and producing town really is like should come to the City of Napa. Daniel Coombs designed the town of Napa City way back when in 1847. Coombs contention was that the heavy amount of steamboat traffic from both the south and the north of California was enough to create a great port city. By establishing a few buildings on the banks of Napa Creek, Coombs made perhaps the best bet in the entire west! Since the town of Napa California was a natural point of navigation for Napa Creek, the trade and transportation enterprises for travelers and agriculture, became mainstays for the town of Napa California.

As California, and the United States, both grew in both popularity and population, an assortment of people from as far away as China and Germany, found their selves in the town of Napa California. The first building that was erected in Napa California was a saloon on the corner of 3rd St. near the Napa River. A general store was next, followed by temporary buildings, that came and went and some still stand today, in the downtown area! The Napa River is a wonderful location for fishing, swimming, snorkeling, or just floating about in inner tube! One has to take a deep breath and relax as this is the central California way, and most definitely the Napa County atmosphere, will force this on the stressed-out tourists. The Napa California travel destination will be best planned out and this starts right here and now!

California was one of the starting points for the 49ers down for the Gold Rush, and is also the birthplace of leather! With so much culture and history within its borders, it is of little wonder that Napa receives thousands of visitors each and every year! The droves of visitors that come do so for both the variety and the people of this dynamic central California town. A great place to understand and educate oneself on the Napa County history is the Napa Valley Museum.

This museum is full of artifacts and natural history and educational material that recant the olden- days of Napa California. One of the most visited and popular attractions of Napa California have to be the Robert Mondavi Summer Festival, which is held every year at the Robert Mondavi winery.
